The day was full of bizarre numbers, signs, symbols, equations spiced up with quiz, riddles, puzzles, poems and songs. And.....it was the Math day @ Treamis!...likely to be one of the most funful days for our students. The celebration to mark the birth anniversary of the great mathematician Ramanujan came little early at Treamis as the school would be on break on Dec. 22.

2nd Dec 2015,Education cum Recreational Trip

It was an immemorable visit to Sandor, Hampi and Bellary by the high school students. The three-day trip included adventurous aqua sports like rowing, kayaking, surfing, etc. and the daring terrestrial sports tracking, zip line and ladder climbing. The visit to heritage village made the children understand the Rajasthani culture as the students basked with activities like folk dance, camel ride, bullock cart ride, etc. A study on medicinal plants and the process of steel production were a true hands on for the students.

November 27, 2015 Celebrating ‘the pleasures of reading’

The Treamisians cherished their participation in a reading program organized by Scholastic India. With the reinforcement on the importance of reading, they also realized that this good habit should trickle down its benefits to the underprivileged children. The students donated books to the children of an NGO who lacked access to books and reading.

Preschool section highlights one of the many concepts learnt by the children. The children took part in an open air painting session to learn about colors and textures while experimenting with new, engaging materials. In addition to understanding sensory and motor skills, the children learnt the mechanics of drawing and created their own masterpiece painting.

November 8, 2015 Soccer team wins one more championship

The students participated in a tournament conducted by SPT sports and won the championship. Nine schools and clubs had taken part in this event. In addition to defeating the competitive host, Treamisians beat the professional soccer clubs FC-1, Rots and the school EISB. In semi-finals, they again beat Ebenezer, 2-1 and finally won the championship scoring 4-0 against Spartans in the finals.

November 5, 2015 An ascent to creative thinking

Treamis students participated in the Science Fest competition hosted by Amrita School of Engineering. Treamisians participated in six of the twelve events and bagged first place in three events and second place in the fourth beating between 20 to 40 teams.

Diwali celebration

Treamis students invited the children of the orphanage 'Nele' for Diwali celebration. After lighting the lamps, Treamisians took the children around the campus to show their classrooms, labs, etc, The students mingled freely with the children taking selfies. They discussed academic and career options of the children and gave plenty of suggestions. The students played together, served the visitors dinner and watched them enjoy the firecrackers.

The Treamisians as well as the orphanage kids could feel the warmth, affection and the care for one another.

The high school students were enlightened by the academic experts from acclaimed universities as School of Engineering Sciences, Mahindra Ecole Centrale, Hyderabad, Loyola University and Xavier University, Chicago. Professor Vijaysekhar Chellaboina, an IIT graduate, threw highlights on science disciplines and its industry applications during an interactive session with the students.

Hindi Diwas was celebrated with various activities from story-telling, to solving riddles, debate, damsharas, role plays etc. The activities truly influenced the students to like the language and appreciate its richness. The children celebrated the day with activities like garbha dance, floral rangoli, preparation of traditional food- laddoo and a ramp walk wearing traditional dresses. They also tapped 'Matka' and played traditional games like tunnel march (Ratto-Ratto Rayana Magale), tug of war, hopscotch and tiger and the calf, etc.

September 4, 2015 Traditional Food

Treamis students, for the first time, had the experience of tasting south Indian traditional lunch with menu items such as bisi bele bath, holige, kosumbari, kadubu, uppinakayi, kodu bale, poori, sagu, chatni, palya, rice, sambar, vada, curd rice, etc. The menu prepared by the Treamis kitchen and served by the teachers was part of the Traditional Day celebrations at Treamis.

The real challenge was to eat the food served on banana leaves in traditional way using hands which only heightened the sensual connection to food and softened the formality of fine dining. Surprise! The students not only enjoyed the food, but were able to eat with ease.

September 4, 2015 Traditional Day Celebrations

In addition to traditional games and dresses, this year’s annual traditional day celebration included traditional lunch. The students and the staff came to school dressed in traditional dresses from around the world and played games like tug-of-war, hopscotch, tiger & calf, lagori, kabaddi, alaguli mane (Bantumi), etc. The highlight of the day, ‘Matka Breaking’ was a competition between the Houses. For the first time, girls’ teams participated in this competition. It was stunning to see Thai students in Pha Nung, Sinhs, Sampot Chong Kben, Arabian students in Thawb, Yemenians in Zenneh and Smadeh, Tanzaninans in Kanzu and Hijab, Indians in Dhoti, Kurta, Saree, Ghagra.

July 31, 2015 High-Tech Election

Treamis students voted through an electronic voting system created by student e-wizards to elect the office bearers of the Student Council. The students also had the option to elect through traditional ballot voting. The president, secretary, joint secretary, four house captains and four vice captains were elected through the democratic process. Commemorating the ‘Storming of the Bastille’ the students started the Day with the French National Anthem, "La Marseillaise”, followed by two melodious songs “L’Alouette” and “Le Livre de Jungle”and narration of the story behind the Fifa World Cup Finale. And…. finally the sumptuous French cuisine cooked by our young chefs was indeed mouth smacking!

Treamis Residence Hall was the perfect setting for recognizing the International Yoga Day. After watching the inaugural function on Rajpath, New Delhi, the students performed each 'aasana' coordinating posture and breathing techniques under the guidance of Ms. Harini, Residence Hall Manager, who is also an avid yoga practitioner. This was indeed a perfect icebreaker for the students from across the world who recently started the new academic year.
