The EYP prepares children for entry into the PYP. Based on differentiated teaching and learning structure, it allows mentors consider the needs of each individual child. The emphasis is on social development which is critical to a successful elementary experience. In addition, structured activities that relate to academic skills or concept development, are designed and implemented by the facilitators.
The teaching methodology considers a student's academic, social, physical, emotional and cultural needs while delivering an integrated curriculum. The integration of the curriculum encourages learners to make connections not only between the subjects and topics but also among knowledge, skills, feelings, values and attitudes. The students will become 'multi-skilled' and be able to transfer their skills and understand across various contexts.
The curriculum is designed in a way that promotes inquiry-based learning with sufficient opportunities for exploration, understanding the concepts of hypothesis, experimental procedures, observations and interfaces and activities that students can relate to real life scenarios.
*Treamis International School is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme and pursuing authorization as an IB World School.
The PYP curriculum offers an inquiry-based transdisciplinary learning experience to students aged 3 to 12 years with a focus on the development of concepts, knowledge, skills, attitudes and action. The programme culminates with the “PYP exhibition”, a collaborative venture in which students work together on a topic chosen in consultation with their mentor, and eventually present the results of their efforts to fellow classmates, teachers and the wider school community. The assessment review focused on both ongoing formative assessments within the PYP (assessment for learning) and summative assessment of individual and group performances in the exhibition (assessment of learning).
The uniqueness of Treamis assessment process lies in the instillation of the belief and self-confidence in every learner that ‘I am my own benchmark’.
