COUNSELING

Academic Advising

Selected faculty members serve as academic advisers to help guide students through their education at Treamis and beyond. Advisers discuss all the topics of school work with the students including student assessment, class selection, preparation for semesters / school years. These meetings also give students the opportunity to discuss areas where they may need help. As students move to higher classes, regularly scheduled meetings with advisers help them to identify their interests and plan for post-graduation.

Students are required to meet with their assigned adviser in the academic year and frequency of visits increases with grade level. Parent attendance at these meetings is encouraged.

Student Counseling

Treamis counseling program is designed to enhance independence and confidence and encourage optimal learning of both academic and life skills. It ensures an environment that is inspiring and rewarding by implementing research based, effective programs that create awareness and prevent problems such as bullying or victim of bullying.

Counseling is achieved through interactive skill building sessions on core life skills such as confidence, communication, decision making, conflict resolution, team work and leadership, manners and etiquette, goal setting, etc.

Special Education

Treamis focuses on holistic development of each child. We believe that each child is unique. Some children can reach their potential on their own; some will get there with support through counseling and special education.

Treamis Special Education center helps children with learning difficulties. Information about students with special needs are kept confidential and regularly discussed with parents. Based on parent – teacher consent, the department plans the academic mapping of each child. An assessment is conducted for each child to find out the exact condition of problem. After detailed discussion with parents, an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is prepared for each child. Intervention is provided through one to one session and in small groups. Both formative and summative assessments are conducted according to each student’s need and potential. Assessment reports are discussed periodically with parents.

The members of Special Education Department are qualified and trained as Rehabilitation Council of India norms. The department organizes monthly workshops for teachers to identify and manage students that have special needs. We also focus on age related issues, emotional and behavioral challenges faced by students at all age level and provide counseling services either individually or group depending on need. The department also conducts quarterly seminars for parents on issues related to parenting.
